Easy campfire bread recipe!

This is a great staple that’s easy to make and delicious too!

You can see a video on how to do this on a campfire here:

Campfire bread recipe

3 cups bread flour

1 envelope instant yeast

1 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 Tbsp butter (or oil)

1 1/4 cups warm water

Mix the bread flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Melt the butter in the warm water and add to the dry ingredients.

Knead the dough for 10 minutes. Leave, covered, in a warm spot to rise until double in size.

Punch down the dough and divide into 3 equal parts. Roll out each part to form a long dough snake.

Squeeze one end of the dough snakes together and braid the sections to form a loaf. Place in a greased pot or Dutch oven. Leave, covered in a warm spot to rise until double in size.

Place on a medium hot fire.

Place some coals on the lid for an even bake. Bake for 30-40 minutes until bread is golden brown.

Tips: If you are camping, mix the dry ingredients together in a sealable bag. Use oil instead of butter and mix the dough right in the bag-no need for a bowl.
