The Oriental Hotels: Setting the Standard with Star Ratings
Legazpi City, Philippines — The country’s tourism industry continues to look up as the Department of Tourism recently awarded two star rating certificates to The Oriental Legazpi and The Proxy by The Oriental, two of the leading hotels in the Bicol Region.
The DOT granted the prestigious ratings after a series of rigorous inspections and evaluations conducted by a team of tourism quality advisers and third-party auditors last June.
The 6-story, 104-room and suite Oriental Legazpi, the flagship of the LKY Group of Companies, was renewed its four-star classification and is the highest-ranked in its category in the Bicolandia. Its facilities include a 1,500-pax grand ballroom, 2 boardrooms, 4 event halls, four food and beverage outlets with VIP spaces, a spa, infinity pool, Asian-themed landscaped garden, a fitness center, and the St. Peregrine Chapel.
Situated in Taysan Hill overlooking the city, the luxe accommodation reopened last year after undergoing a grand makeover.
Meanwhile, Proxy by The Oriental, a sub-brand by the Filipino hospitality chain, was elevated to three-star status after meeting stringent DOT standards. Located near downtown Legazpi, is a 76-room, five-story boutique property with 2 food and beverage outlets, a 200-pax Albay Theater, 2 function halls, a 2,000-person capacity convention center, a swimming pool, and the Magayon Garden.
Based on DOT ratings, the stars demonstrate the dedication of the establishments to top-tier service and guest satisfaction, aligning the hotels with industry excellence. It also said that each star represents elegance, luxury, and a promise of exceptional service, and is a milestone in inspiring sustained quality and setting new benchmarks in the tourism industry.
Star rating system is an international practice which seeks to enhance the competitiveness of the hospitality industry of various countries in line with the World Tourism Organization regulations.
In a related development, the hotel group announced that it is also granting medalists to the recent Paris Olympics a lifetime privilege of complimentary stays across all its properties. The hosted overnight accommodation with breakfast for 2 persons covers the medalists and a companion, and can be used at The Oriental Legazpi, The Oriental Luxury Suites in Tagaytay, The Inns Bacolod, Proxy Hotel, and The Oriental Bataan.
