we heart this –
In the interest of full-disclosure: I am not a lipgloss girl. I never feel like lipgloss is very impactful on me and I find its wear time lacking. Our fearless leader/resident lipgloss fiend Stef decided to make me a convert and sent me her “favorite lip gloss in the world” Pat McGrath Lust: Gloss ($28) in two shades that she swoons over. “Try the gloss”, she said. “You’ll love it,” she said.
Have you ever met someone who is always right? I’d say it was annoying if she wasn’t SO right about these glosses–these are the best ever!
The box that Pat McGrath Lust: Gloss comes in is graphic art fantasy–all sexy hot pink and black, gold type, images of lips, stilettos and spurs, and scribbled words. Two stand out: MAJOR LOVE. I feel like it’s both a prediction and a promise.
The lipgloss inside comes in a generously sized tube (.15 fl oz). The black handle is stamped with 4 gold hallmarks: PM for Pat McGrath, L for Labs, a crown (I’m presuming because this is a product fit for royalty) and lips to indicate where to place the product. The plastic packaging is solid and will survive the roughest treatment your purse can give it with zero damage.
Upon opening the tube, I’m hit with a vanilla/angel food cake scent that is just divine. The applicator is a flexible, bent flocked doe foot. The gloss is creamy and thick; the kind of gloss that stays awhile instead of wearing off in two seconds. It glides on smoothly with no trace of stickiness. It feels like a cushiony liquid balm.
So, what two shades does a lip gloss fiend swoon over? Shades that she declares…
If I only could use two shades for the rest of my life; these would be the shades.
Meet Heavy Petal and Bronze Temptation.
Heavy Petal is a high shine, semi-opaque formulation in a vivid warm pink shade. It’s that perfect shock of pink for when you want to brighten up your whole face.
Bronze Temptation is a shimmer formulation in a medium golden bronze shade. The perfect nude for those of us who can’t do a pale lip.
The wear time is that it lasts until I eat or drink something, which is excellent for a lipgloss. Even then, I have enough remaining color that I don’t feel completely naked or have to rush for a touch up. At the end of the day, my lips feel amazing thanks to a blend of oils that nourish and condition lips. It really feels like a luxe lip treatment and not just a gloss.
Pat McGrath offers 32 shades of her Lust: Gloss. So, there is a perfect shade and a perfect finish (high shine, shimmer or glitter) for everybody. Just know that once you own one, it’s really just a gateway drug to a larger addiction; I’m currently lusting after a few more shades. Call me a lipgloss convert! Thanks, Stef!
Have you tried Pat McGrath Lust: Gloss yet? Any fellow lipgloss converts out there? I want to hear all about your favorite shades!
